Wine harvest casablanca Chile 2008
winetours valparaiso
09.04.2008
We have just had a wonderful time in Valparaiso taking in all the sights of this enchanting town full of spectacular views. We also decided to take in a winetour in the casabalanca with winetoursvalparaiso.
Luckily for us we came at the right time, not knowing before hand that between March and April all the harvesting is done to create the wine. It was as well interesting to know that Chardonay, Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Noir are the
the varieties grown most in the area.
We visited ViƱa Mar vineyard, which is the only producer of sparkling wine in the valley. We also took a trip to Emiliana the main organic vineyard in the region and you get to see the lamas that are used in the whole organic process as well as the chickens running around.
Veramente vineyard although not bad on the wine front was a bit short in terms of the tour, but Indomita is a very classy vineyard with a spectacular view and a fantastic restaurant where we had lunch.
The two vineyards i loved the most were Matetic and Catrala which i would completly recomend to anyone for a visit based on the quality of the tour and the quality of the wine.
Our guide was a Londener who had dicided to stay in Chile after meeting his wife in 2001, so we had someone who could explain things without any language problems as our spanish is not up to scratch.
Anyway fantastic tour and anyone visting Valparaiso should not miss out on a tour in the Casablanca Valley.
